A village in Madagascar's central highlands, photographed during Evertreen field work in the region of the Vohidahy Forest project. Communities like this one are at the centre of the planting model: local teams grow native seedlings in nearby nurseries, plant them on the surrounding hillsides, and are paid to maintain the young forest. The raised wooden structure between the houses is a traditional rice granary.
